This is the Smartest Way to Shop the Sephora Sale

Skincare products from Sephora

Shopping the Sephora Sale can be a complete shitshow. Especially if you’re not prepared for it. How many of you are staring at a full cart of random products, but just haven’t pulled the trigger? I’m willing to bet it’s a LOT of you, myself included. As someone who does an excessive amount of research before buying, I feel you. Who has a random assortment of stuff you’re not sure about or that you’ve seen online but are still skeptical about in your cart right now? What off-the-cuff “retail therapy” purchases are you making that end up a flop? Quit leaving yourself with the looming credit card debt.

How to Hack The Sephora Sale

If you don’t strategize your spending around sales, you end up pulling the trigger on some random single palette you’ll likely never use or finish, and a couple of basics. As someone who’s put off my shopping cart until the last minute again this year, I’ve learned a few hacks for figuring out what’s most important. It starts with categorizing and ranking your products in order of importance for your NEEDS. So, put down the wine glass and settle in to learn and take control of your cart. My personal roadmap for the Sephora Sale awaits you below:

Evergreen Products

Are you wondering WTF evergreen means? It relates to the products you use every day. I personally spend the majority of my purchases on products I’ll use EVERY DAY throughout the year, stocking up at a discount. This goes for cleansers, pricier serums, and hair products. This makes up 75% of my cart. This is how I afford quality daily-use items year-round. Take stock of how quickly you go through items like these, and stock up the exact amount you need between now and the next sale.

Accessory Products

Accessory products are investment pieces, like hairdryers and flat irons, and at-home medspa tools. I also loop in my statement home pieces and limited edition palettes. I’m talking about my LED light therapy devices, Tom Ford makeup, YSL lip products, and Pat McGrath palettes. Less than 15% of my cart contains items like these. Spacing these types of purchases out will help you stay on budget long-term during the year. Aim to only invest in 2 items like these per year max.

Unicorn Products

We all deserve to TREAT ourselves. Eyeing the Dyson Airwrap? Ready to splurge on a skincare device? I get it, and I salute you. In order to make the most while buying items like these, this goes for ONE item in your cart. Minimizing the risk of return on your investments is key, and keeping it to one product helps. If you have the extra budget for something else, that’s up to you! Just keep it in budget based on your spending. These are the products I KNOW will be the next big thing. Go get ’em fam! It’s the fucking Sephora Sale.

Sephora Sale Max Value Gift Sets

Value sets with the sale price attached are how I get stocking stuffers/gifting done. They’re also how I stock up on travel size sets for my regular business travel. These are the gift sets that give you the best value on full size products and travel size. These products are universal, whether you’re a guy or a girl. These are it:

This is by far the best guide to this sale that I’ve seen so far. Firstly, it made me laugh. But also, you shared pretty much the exact same products I would suggest to anyone trying to navigate this sale. Great choices here. It’s too bad I’m on a no-spending spree, because my makeup/skincare caddy is getting seriously slim haha!
