When it comes to investment pieces, I get real serious about what I recommend. There’s nothing worse than spending an arm and a leg on a piece, to find out it’s a flop. It’s even worse when the brand doesn’t stand by their designs. This is NOT the case with The Arrivals, and I felt that their Moya Jacket deserved its own post as a result.
Who are The Arrivals?
If you’re wondering WTF this brand is, read on. My love story with their brand began late in 2015 when I saw a Facebook ad with a quote from Vogue about this particular jacket. It read “we’re going to call it this season’s go-to jacket” and went on to explain exactly why. New Yorkers take their outerwear very seriously, and if Vogue is on board, it’s certainly destined for greatness.
I spent the next year swooning over it and reading more press about it. The reviews were in, and they were pretty solid. Additionally, I couldn’t help but notice the “lifetime warranty” they have listed on each item on the site. There’s nothing more comforting knowing that they stand by their designs. Upon receiving a coupon code during the holidays, I decided to pull the trigger, and I’m SO glad I did.
The #NOTSPONSORED Review
We hear a lot about hyped items online, but it really means something when a lay-person writes about it of their own free will. I trust bigger purchases to reviews from fellow bloggers and the reviews of those who’ve bought the item. Here’s my opinion:
Fit
The Arrivals Moya is meant to be an oversized jacket, which is BOMB, especially if you’re a tall and broad-shouldered slender gal like me, and have a hard time fitting your shoulders into fitted leather jackets. I hated my moto jackets, and most were a total waste of money because I never reached for them due to fit. Who hates having a baggy body just to have your shoulders fit? Yeah, me too. This jacket hits me right below the butt, making it a practical choice for colder months, and the soft leather makes it sit perfectly on your curves, eliminating that rigid boxy look. It’s also a style that’s truly a classic, making it a safe purchase against trendier styles that won’t stand the test of time.
Feel
HOLY OMFG. I shit you not: this jacket literally feels like I’m wearing a silk Agent Provocateur robe, lined with Ugg boot shearling. I find myself keeping it on indoors, instead of shedding it immediately due to being uncomfortable.
Price
Yeah, I know, this jacket is ~$1,000. Worth it? Every fucking penny. I’ve NEVER felt that way about any clothing I’ve spent over a grand on. It’s not a museum piece like some of my shoes I only pull out for special occasions, it’s one that will get used consistently. That right there makes it worth it. Forego a pair of Valentinos or even a Chanel bag this year. This piece has (literally) got YO back, and usable across all codes of dress. Evening gown? Yup. Vogue editors are buzzing about wearing it at Fashion Week at events and shows. Wearing it to and from your workouts? That too. I won’t be taking it off once I touch down in NYC for good this year.
Sustainability
Recently this past year, The Arrivals have adjusted their supply chain to create batches of the Moya, which go through pre-order stages to avoid overproduction. I love to see this. While you’ll likely wait to receive yours, it’s worth it to ensure the environment is taken into consideration as much as possible. Delayed gratification never felt so sweet! I also urge you to consider buying them secondhand as well. The price break is also nothing to complain about. I linked the few that are available below for you!
I’ll leave you with a question to end: Want to never buy another jacket again? Go with The Arrivals Moya. She won’t let you down. Read my second year review on this jacket here.

I love the jacket! You said the magic words: Tall and broad shoulders. That’s me! 🙂
That is definitely a classic staple that will stand the test of time. Great purchase. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for your honest thoughts on investment pieces! Although that jacket is pricey I can totally see why it is worth it!

Whoa this is one hell of a review and now I’m seriously interested. I’ve never owned a piece of clothing that cost more than $150 soooo this would be quite the budget breaker. But maybe in the future when I’m not saving for a wedding I can grab myself something this dynamite!
Dying over that jacket!!
This jacket is perfection. It belongs in my closet ASAP!
Hi! Thank you for giving your take on the Moya! Haha what size do you wear? I’m seriously contemplating getting it and wondering if I should size down or keep to my usual size. Any thoughts you have would be much appreciated! Xxx
Hi Jane! I’m wearing the XS here. I’m a pretty solid 2-4, and it fits well, still oversized. Let me know if that helps!
Also, it’s linked through Nordstrom, so if it doesn’t fit quite right you can always exchange 👌🏻
Love your review. This jacket is the epitome of cool and stylish yet utilitarian. I ran (not walk–literally RAN) to the pop up shop in NYC and am a proud owner of the same jacket but in the terra (camel) color. It took me a while to decide between the black and the terra and I ultimately went with the terra because the luxurious shearling stood out more in that color. Plus with my 5’10” frame and wide back, I felt the brownish terra was a tad more feminine and a little less edgy. I can’t seem to pull off the edgy look. I am so not cool. But you look amazing in your black version!
Aww I’m so glad you found it helpful! I know you’ll be so happy with yours. I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve worn it, and have no plans of stopping.
Hi! I am hoping to order this jacket tonight with the Cyber Monday sale but am not sure about sizes and their office is closed to ask them about it 🙁 Would you say that in the XS you’re still able to wear a light cashmere sweater underneath? I am a pretty true size 2 on top, 25 or 26 jean and not a large chest at all. I think I should order the XS but since it’s pricey I’m trying to do some research.
Any help would be so appreciated thank you!!
Yes! I’m your same size and I often wear hoodies under it!
