Winter is a serious buzzkill when it comes to our skin and har: dryness, static, you name it. Feeling personally victimized by cold, shitty weather this month? I’ve got you. Luckily, there are a few products that can help you stay on top of the madness. They’re not expensive either, making it bearable to purchase amid holiday shopping. Check it:
Winter Beauty: Skincare
Combatting the cold takes a few things: namely hydrating formulas, and the addition of oils (if you’re not already using them year-round). Look for serums, moisturizers, and masks that include hyaluronic acid, argan oil, and cream cleansers. Gel cleansers tend to leave your skin dry (making them great for summer, not fall/winter). Also, SUPER important: swap your physical exfoliators for a chemical version. My go-to’s:
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser: This is my favorite year-round, but it’s a major game changer during the winter. Your skin is left feeling nourished instead of tight and dry.
Lancome Tonique Confort (Hydrating Toner): GUYS. This product is life-changing. It keeps the moisture from your freshly washed face locked in tight. It’s also under $30, making it an affordable option.
Glossier Super Bounce Serum: Hyaluronic acid is an absolute must for dry skin. It helps plump out wrinkles due to dehydration, and it absorbs super quick. It’s also less than $30, making it an insanely affordable option for a serum. Most others are upward of $50.
Perricone MD Hyaluronic Intensive Moisturizer: This is one of my favorite brands, as all of their lines are formulated to target specific skincare issues, and backed by serious medical testing. This moisturizer is my winter go-to. If you’re looking for a less pricey option, Glossier’s Priming Moisturizer Rich is a great dupe.
Laneige Lip Mask: I have put this in EVERY season’s post this year because IT’S FUCKING MINDBLOWING. Say no to painful chapped lips forever. Seriously: I put this on every time I feel my lips getting tight and painful, and it’s like taking a Tylenol for your lips. I use it all day long and at night before bed.
Glossier Body Hero: Emily Weiss is a fucking genius. This combo is an ABSOLUTE winter must. The oil body wash leaves your skin feeling hydrated and INSANELY silky. I use it year round, but it really shines in the winter. My legs are no longer plagued by static in pants.
Winter Beauty: Hair
Who else gets MAD static from beanies, coats, and basically everything this time of year? Say goodbye to Beetlejuice hair forever: these holy grail products will save you the horror of shitty winter hair.
IGK Laid Back (De-Frizz/De-Static Spray): HOLY SHIT this spray is a life saver!! I discovered it last year on the fly looking for something to tame my flyaways for a cold December shoot in San Francisco, and it’s been in my beauty cabinet ever since. It’s well worth the $29 price tag.
Ouai Rose Hair & Body Oil: Not only does this product pull double duty when it comes to use cases, but it also smells like literal ROSES. I apply this to my bleached ends on my hair and legs/elbows during the winter.
MOROCCANOIL Restorative Hair Mask: This is the holy grail of winter hair masks. Whether you’re a bleach junkie like me or a frizz plagued curly haired gal, this is a one-stop shop for perfection.
