New seasons bring new wallet debt, am I right? In response to your votes on Instagram, I’m keeping worthy investments as forefront content. Next up, worthy investments for fall that your wallet will thank you for. Mini spoiler: they’re a little more pricey…and that’s precisely the point.
Why Shopping Worthy Investments is a Thing
Spend more, save more: sounds counterintuitive, right? Here’s why it actually makes crazy sense: slow fashion means higher quality and more innovative designs. This translates to timeless. Timeless means less money spent over the years. This doesn’t mean you need to give up on Amazon/etc, as many of those pieces take up permanent residence in my own closet. It’s a balance of high-low. It’s how we can look expensive and still have cash to save. By buying one or a few of these items, and you’ll notice you have less debt annually.
Worthy Investments For Fall Your Wallet Will Thank You For
How The Cash Shakes Out
$895? “Are you fucking KIDDING BITCH?” is probably where you’re at right now. I get it. I’m not kidding though, here’s the math:
Mainstream Designer Tote Bag: $200-500. Let’s reflect: how many years do you get a new one because it’s less trendy or gets worn TF out? My personal count used to be around 3 per year. That costs over a thousand in most cases when you count the wallets/small goods. Even more, if you go through fast fashion like a champ. Pretty sure your credit card statement will agree. Mine did in my twenties. Here’s your golden ticket to thriving in your thirties. Worthy investments your wallet will thank you for, not paying off recurring debt.
Fast-er Fashion Pieces: $50-200. I used to go through Zara pieces like a fucking machine gun as a young professional, and nothing really STUCK in my closet. Some did, but very few. That also meant more cash exiting my accounts as a result. To the tune of over $500 a month. Over the past 6 years, I’ve focused on buying quality more expensive designs. Funny enough, the compliments still come on pieces that are 6 years old. These new recommendations are their descendants. Go run your pro/cons in your own closet first, then add some of these styles above.
Case in point: take these 10 year old Chanel pumps I LIVE in. I spent $795 in 2009, and they’re still getting asked about a decade later. Plus, they don’t make me want to hurl myself in front of a cab on 5th Avenue because I’m dying of shoe jail. Now that’s a worthy investment my wallet has certainly thanked me for. You can do it too, friends. I believe in you. For the SCOOP and a half on how to unf*ck your finances, go learn from the savvy boss bish herself, Mrs. Dow Jones. It’s where I got this sick tee from.
