My favorite way to be busy: testing out fashionable fitness wear and gear. There’s a lot of that these days, so it’s made it really easy to be busy all the time 🙂
Its no secret that active wear has gotten a huge fashion facelift over the past few years, and this year, current fashion trends are making their way into active wear designs.
As a Sweat Pink ambassador for Fit Approach, I had the pleasure of getting to know the team at Lorna Jane on Union Street, and let them style me in the latest trends that hit their boutique! Their eye for style and function were perfectly on point, and their infectiously fun loving personalities made the session even more fun.
If you have never heard of Lorna Jane, or tried any items from their collections over the years, let me break down the basics for you:
1. Not sheer (say no to booty baring in class)
2. Durable yet buttery soft fabrics
3. Kick ass colors
4. Flattering and forgiving designs for every body type
I started out sampling each of their styles of sports bras, but unfortunately for my bust size, they weren’t the best option for me. However, if you are a C-cup and below, they have an amazing collection of low support bras that are perfect for barre, yoga, and everyday wear!
Lorna Jane’s tights are where its AT. I’ve been hard pressed to find tights that are functional and fashionable as some of my go-to favorites from Lululemon, and I must say Lorna Jane has me hooked!
The Amy F/L Tights are their most popular seller (and $50 right now online!!), and I can see why, as the fit is truly unmatched. I am slowly getting my body back after falling off the wagon in my nutrition, and found these tights comfortable and forgiving. While I’m sure you can use them for runs, I would personally categorize these tights as low impact functional, perfect for barre, yoga, pilates, and other similar workouts, as the material is a little thick for running and any activities that involve heavy sweating like spin or bootcamp. Since I am focusing on bootcamp and running these days, I opted for another style.
The Trophy F/L Tights were a match made in heaven. Flattering, lightweight but not sheer, and buttery soft! Plus, the kick ass reflective logo on the leg was a huge selling point. It really gives you that slick professional runner look. I can only hope these start coming in more colors (color blocking anyone??).
Given my chest situation, I am a huge fan of loose tanks I can pair with my own high-impact bras, and Lorna Jane has no shortage of those. They even have some saucy conversation tanks which of course, were the ones I gravitated to. There are tons of lame or cheesy quote tees around these days, but very few that are inspirational without the BS. Lorna Jane nails this, and I love them with my sense of humor/personality.
It’s not a complete Mandy styling session without an avant garde piece being thrown into the mix, so of course I had to try on the Lexi Jacket! Say hello to fashionable venting, and say goodbye to ugly overheating on your fickle weathered San Francisco run!
Next up was this badass tank. I am a sucker for all things mesh, fishnet, and otherwise rocker-esque, so needless to say, this was immediately added into the mix. It doesn’t have a built-in bra, so it was perfect to layer over the adorable low support bras I sampled. The fishnet is extra forgiving and soft, and will be a stable for me for barre and pilates. Its so chic yet fashion-forward, and I love it!
Thanks again to the amazing team at Lorna Jane Union Street! I had a blast making new friends in the community here, and getting to take a closer look at all the fabulously functional gear they  carry in store. Stop in and get your own styling session set up, you won’t be disappointed! They even have an Instagram, follow them at @lornajanesf!
LJ has come SUCH a long way. Growing up with LJ, their stuff didn’t used to fit as great, the material wasn’t always moisture wicking and the styles weren’t overly flattering but the last couple of years, they’ve really stepped up their game. Stoked to see that LJ has made its way outside of Australia.
Interesting to hear! I definitely love their Excel Mesh, its truly some of the softest and most powerful moisture wicking fabric I’ve found across active wear brands.
Cute, I love the mesh! 😉
Woah. I love, everything on you. Especially that jacket. So perfect for our barely below the 60s weather out here.
I didn’t even realize there was an LJ on Union St. I’ll have to stop by some time.
The jacket was amazing! Yep they are on Union and Webster, right across from Soul Cycle 🙂
