Green Smoothie Science Experiments with Mandy

I am always on the lookout for new ways with new products to change up my green smoothie recipes to find the most deliciously healthy (and easy!) options for smoothies. If it takes too long and involves too much prep, we all know what happens… It doesn’t.

I have always been a fan of the Vega One Shake Mix (Natural Flavor) , but since it wasn’t on sale this past month at Whole Foods, I decided to try another option and see how it went. I opted for the cheapest of the bunch, PlantFusion Protein Powder. When I opened it, it was a cream color, which I found odd. It didn’t smell at all like the Vega One mix, so I was a little skeptical.

I felt my usual buyer’s remorse coming on, you know the one: choosing the cheap option to save a few bucks, then having to go back and buy what you really wanted instead, resulting in more money spent overall. FAIL.

However, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome! Here’s what I threw into my Ninja Blender:

1 banana

1 cup of coconut milk (So Delicious Sugar Free Vanilla is my fave!)

1 scoop of PlantFusion powder

1 tsp of TerrAmazon Acai Powder

1 cup of shredded fresh kale

2 ice cubes

This recipe makes enough for one serving in a small glass (as pictured above). It was a fantastic post gym snack!

Moral of the story? Cheapest doesn’t always mean less tasty! This brand tastes great, and still has all the nutritional value that I am looking for in a green smoothie. Give it a try!

PS: all ingredients can be found at Whole Foods, or can be delivered through Vitacost (which I do, so I can use Ebates and get cash back!)
