The versatility of velvet this season has made casual holiday dressing so easy! If some of your holiday events are on the more casual side, try pairing your holiday skirts with a pair of statement sneakers for a funky and comfortable twist. My go-to’s this season have been my Fenty x Puma Creepers, as the cracked patent leather adds a nice touch of holiday sparkle to my often monochromatic wardrobe.
Let’s also take a second to talk about this freaking amazing sweatshirt from Cynthia Rowley…I saw it a few months ago and knew it needed to have a home in my closet! It even comes in blush too! As you know, I’ll be taking off permanently to New York City next month. No piece says it better than a hybrid California / New York top, for a few reasons:
- As a Northern California native, the chill outdoorsy vibe is in my blood. I have a love of exploring the great outdoors and am always looking for an excuse to wear flip-flops. I grew up living in my Adidas Adilettes, and as you can see, not much has changed. Tousled beach waves almost always win over a manicured curl, and I love a killer vintage tee over everything.
- As far back as I can remember, I’ve always had a love affair with New York City, watching old movies with my family, to taking off every chance I got to explore it while in college on the east coast. I’ve traveled all over, and never quite felt as much at home as I have in New York, there’s something about the people and respect for hustle there that puts me at ease. It was always a goal of mine to move there one day, as my career allowed.
- The edgier fashion-forward side of my style is often misunderstood here in California. I love that this sweatshirt is a true hybrid. It brings both sides together to make something new, rebellious, yet relatable. My personal style is an eclectic mix of both worlds and this sweatshirt is just that: Casual. Chic.
I picked up this awesome (and under $30) velvet skirt and must say it goes with just about everything in my closet. Target has seriously upped their clothing game over the past few years, and I’m pumped to see that their regular brand lines have gotten a huge makeover. Stay tuned the rest of this week, as I style it up and down for the holidays.
I’m also pumped to share my second #ootdnovela of the year! I couldn’t think of a better sound to back it with than a funky remix of artists from both New York City and LA (Azealia Banks vs. YACHT) by my favorite DJ group of all time, The Hood Internet. Check their mixtapes out on SoundCloud, they’re fire AF!
