So, about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Sale season can be an absolute fucking anxiety-ridden shitshow. I get it because it used to be like that for me too. Endless scrolling, anxiety from FOMO on hidden products, and worse: buyer’s remorse on huge orders of stuff you really don’t need. There’s a method to the madness though. If you’re a longtime reader, you may remember last year’s post on how to shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale smartly. This year, the same concept applies. See below:
The NSale Quick Tips
The Anniversary Sale is an opportunity to shop next season’s new releases at a discount. You must be a cardholder to shop the sale starting today. If you don’t have a card, DON’T FREAK OUT: you do not need to rush your purchases. Yes, things sell out during cardholder shopping, but there is always a major restock before it opens to the public. Important dates to keep tabs on:
Icon and Ambassador level cardholders can shop in stores and online – July 10 & 11
Early access for Nordstrom cardholders begins at 12:30pm EST – July 12-18th
Public access for everyone to shop, no card needed – July 19th-August 4th
Prices go back up to the retail price – August 5th
Worthy Investments: Year-Round Basics
I am not an impulse shopper, it’s more important to me to find pieces that can add real value to my existing wardrobe. There’s a reason for this: smart purchases yield greater returns on investment, and keep more liquid cash in your bank account. This is also important because it helps cut down on excess spending and closet clutter. Use this sale to stock up on quality basics like denim, leather/faux leather jackets, or transitional tops.
Worthy Investments: Beauty
I take this sale and the Sephora seasonal sales very seriously when it comes to beauty. It’s a chance to save MAJOR funds on products I already love and use all year long. I’ve noticed nearly a $1,000 drop on how much I spend by buying multiples of each product during these sales. These products are all ones I’ve tested and use regularly. It’s also a great time to invest in new tools at a discount.
Worthy Investments: Footwear
Getting quality footwear you’ll wear all year long at a discount is key for saving money. I take this sale as an opportunity to replace more expensive staples like boots and stock up on sneakers that I know I’ll wear weekly. It’s also a great time to buy rain boots at a reduced cost! I got my Hunter boots a few years back on this sale, and they’re still going strong.
Worthy Investments: Activewear
Nordstrom has some of the best affordable AND functional activewear out there. Zella is my go-to for cheaper options when I don’t want to wear my expensive leggings as often. These styles have excellent reviews for people of all sizes!
Worthy Investments: Designer Purchases
This is the real Christmas Day of purchases! I love to add in one high priced item in a style I know that will be classic in years to come. This includes well-crafted blazers, designer sunglasses, and handbags. The options below will stand the test of time, and will hold their value should you consign them later.
