Active Fashion – The Editorial Part III

The casual active fashion realm can also take a more structured form, outside of the traditional incorporation of leggings. One of my favorite way to style sportier trends are hybrids: traditional clothing types reformatted in a sporty way, or with technical fabrics. These include items like dresses, blazers, skirts, etc.

I had so much fun styling this Nike dress, courtesy of Rent The Runway. Active inspired dresses are some of the best ways to take your look to the next level. This particular dress was a statement all it’s own; it’s structured lines and material made it sleek, yet eye catching. For a fun and sporty day look, I added in my favorite leather and pom hat, perfect for a sunny day walking around the city.

The beauty of a style so simple means you can add other pieces in to add a playful or more dramatic tone to the ensemble. This style can also be blurred back to a more dressy casual feel, trading your sneakers for a sleek pair of wedges or strappy heeled sandals, and a statement necklace. I wore this dress in black during New York Fashion Week at the beginning of the year, styled with statement tights and over-the-knee boots, and it was a total hit.

I dressed up this look by adding this BB Dakota draped leather jacket via Rent The Runway, and one of my favorite velvet chokers for a more happy hour and evening feel. You can switch up your handbag too to add another element of glam to your look.
