The Hack To Mastering Designer Inspired Looks

I love a splurge just as much as the next person, don’t get me wrong. However, there’s a seemingly endless wish list of designer items I think I need because it’s just “SO ME.” How many of you out there are nodding your heads to that sentiment? Yeah, I hear ya. Good news: the look you’re craving IS possible outside the designer price tag. Watch what I’ve done below.

Step One: Pattern Matching

I’m pretty sure I spent about 30 minutes gawking at the window displays of Gucci on Wooster Street last season with all their crazy bold florals and blinged-out accessories. I’m not really one for floral, but give me a darker, bolder color combo, and I might bite. This particular dress SCREAMS designer, from the cut to the pattern. When you follow these two guidelines, anything is possible. The greatest compliment I received on this look came from a coworker, who said I looked like I just walked out of a Gucci ad.

Step Two: Accessorize High

I personally invest more in accessories, as they are the easiest way to make a mid-grade outfit shine like glossy Vogue editorial. My most recent pieces include my iridescent PVC Chanel Boy bag, the iconic Off-White industrial belt, and Kith + Versace ball cap. Designer sunnies are also a solid investment, or ones that look like them, such as these ones from Diff I’m wearing in this post. They’re basically a dead ringer for Gucci’s frames. Whether these accessories are paired with my dad’s vintage 501’s or a basic sweater from H&M, it elevates everything.

Step 3: Bold Footwear

The past two seasons of NYFW came bearing bold outfits, paired with even bolder footwear. I’m not just talking about sneakers, but rather bold combat boots, wild colored western boots, and space boots. As a girl who values comfort before anything else, I’m down for it. Think the outfit’s too wild? Pair a solid colored boot like my Docs below.
