Breakaway pants have always been more than just a trend for me. Who else out there feels the same? It was a uniform from a young age during track season, my go-to for leisure and gym wear through college, and is now fully integrated into my everyday attire. I’ve always been an Adidas over Nike girl too since grade school, mainly because of their iconic breakaway pants and Superstars. Confession: I STILL to this day have my original set of navy Adidas breakaways, and still wear them. These days, breakaway pants take many shapes and styles outside of sportswear, including some pretty fancy details. I found these MSGM beauties through my Rent The Runway Unlimited subscription, and they’ve become a regular in my weekly lineups.
There’s really no wrong way to style this trend these days. For example, I’ve styled these floral breakaway pants for work with a slouchy sweater, and also for a night out with friends with a long sleeve bodysuit. The verdict? They’ll pass in just about every code of dress, and nearly any occasion. This week, since the weather is still transitioning, they were a perfect pair with a velvet blazer, giving it a polished feel.
Really, I’m just a girl staring at my closet wishing it could all be breakaways and hoodies. I’ll always be happiest in sweats and a smile. Also with some good tunes, obviously.
